How I learned to crochet

I learned to crochet when I was about 8, from a neighbor lady my parents knew at church. She taught me the basic chain and single crochet and I made miles and miles of chains and single crochets....then I found this wonderful book at the library, Crochet, by James Walters and Sylvia Cosh, and worked my way through it until I'd learned everything in it. They had a wonderful free form approach that stuck with me and soon I was off making my own designs and decorating my Barbie doll house, making blankets for my bed, making little bags and purses and ornaments as gifts. Just having fun! I must have made a million of these little mushrooms too.
