I’ve had this DMC Natura XL cotton big bulky yarn in my stash for a while and wasn’t sure what to make with it. As the weather got warmer this spring and we started going kayaking at the lake again, I had an idea. Make a big beach bag with it! It’s the same color as the red rocks and sand at my favorite beach at Sand Hollow State Park reservoir where we love to kayak, and I paired it with some Billow bulky cotton from Knit Picks in the same color as the sage & cactus that grow along the shores.
I worked it up in the round with a big book, in a big juicy twisted treble stitch so it’s got lots of texture and no seams. (I hate sewing seams and try to avoid it whenever I can.) It works up fast and makes a great market bag as well as beach tote. It will work up well on a smaller hook in a worsted or DK yarn as well.
I also made a little video showing how I do the twisted treble stitch here. The pattern is available at my Ravelry shop and Etsy shop. Be sure to check out my wonderful tester’s project pages on Ravelry and pics on Instagram too!
