So over this gorgeous Labor Day weekend we headed out on a hike in Cave Valley. It's one of those little hidden places near our house.
My husband just knew where the turn off was because he's lived in the area so long. There are a lot of little places like this around here and it's been fun to explore them as well as all the well known national parks that are close by - Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon North Rim.
We went for the petroglyphs....which I always love to see....
But the plants and wildflowers were what captured my heart this time. I kept stopping to take pics and slowing everyone down. Oops.
The range of colors and shapes inspired a new knitwear design. And this is often how inspiration strikes. I see a color I fall in love with, or a combo like this violet & yellow, or a particular shape that I like. Something interesting that catches my eye.
Like these yucca plants. I love 'em. They're endlessly interesting.
Inspiration is all around us in various forms even here in the desert where you think there's not much going on......from wildflower colors to shapes of cactus to the sheer joy of the little hummingbirds gathering around my patio each morning. What's inspiring you lately?
We're in monsoon season here in the desert. I love it. I thought it would be fun to revisit a trip to Bryce Canyon a few years ago during this time of the year. It was so gorgeous in the rain. I often feel like I live in one of the most gorgeous places on the planet and feel so lucky to live in a landscape I love so much. Enjoy!
