Let's talk a little tarot, shall we? Don't worry we'll circle back to knit & crochet! I love tarot decks & have collected them for a couple decades now. Some I chose for the artwork (Mucha, Wild Unknown) and some I chose for their vibe (Motherpeace, Gaian) and some I chose just for fun (zombies and mermaids and gravestones, oh my).
And some just chose me. The lovely and mystical Tarot of Northern Shadows, was my first one, with its gorgeous artwork and a combination of Welsh folkore and Norse mythology. It's still one of my all time favorites and really speaks to me in ways the others don't. Maybe it's because I have a Welsh great great grandfather.....
And I love putting away the boxes they come in and making little bags to keep them in, instead. It's such a pleasure to find a yarn that feels right with the deck and add other goodies like ribbons and beads, and make something unique.
Sometimes I do readings for others and they choose the bag that appeals to them, and then we open it and discover the deck that has found them.
This one I made for my Aquarian deck. It's a combination of knit and crochet. The colors are what grabbed me.
This one I made for my Motherpeace, with some scraps of colors that seemed to fit the artwork. I love the triple spiral crochet design that begins on the bottom and spirals out to the top.
